One stage. No support. No route. In 2013, Specialized employees Erik Nohlin and Recep Yesil successfully completed The Transcontinental Race from London to Istanbul. This adventurous pair is the inspiration for the AWOL Transcontinental bike. The race itself requires participants to be self-sufficient and versatile, particularly since the route is not pre-defined. A bike with features that allowed them to ride all day, day-after-day, while carrying all of their supplies was critical. With its belt-drive, Alfine 11-speed internal hub, hydraulic brakes, and dynamo-powered lights, the AWOL Transcontinental is the ride-and-forget bike. A one-time run of 100 bikes will be produced.
